Model Y HEPA & Pollen Filter Replacement
Tesla’s Model Y features a three-stage air filtration system, designed to keep cabin air clean and healthy. From pollen and dust to odours and pollutants, each filter plays a unique role in improving your driving experience.
These filter replacements are offered only as add-ons to our Minor or Major Service Packages. They are not available as standalone services.
The Three Filters in Your Model Y
HEPA Pre-Filter
Location: External HVAC airbox
What it does: Captures the majority of airborne particulates like dust, pollen, and fine road debris before it reaches the rest of the system.
Recommended Replacement:

Every 2 years, or more frequently in dusty or high-pollution areas
Carbon Filter (Full HEPA Filter)
Location: Same external airbox as HEPA pre-filter
What it does: Targets smells, exhaust fumes, and airborne contaminants. A key component for air purification inside the cabin.
Recommended Replacement:

Every 4 years, or
-
Every 2 years for those in urban, industrial or high-traffic areas
Cabin Filter
Location: Inside the cabin
What it does: A legacy from the Model 3, this filter offers minimal filtration benefit in the Model Y, but we still recommend periodic replacement to avoid potential issues with damp and mould buildup.
Recommended Replacement:

Every 3 years, primarily as a preventative measure

Filter replacements can be added to your Minor or Major Service Booking. Here’s how our filter packages are structured:
Recommended Replacement Intervals
While Tesla recommends replacing the cabin air filter every 2 years and the HEPA and carbon filters every 3 years, we suggest the following schedule based on our experience.

HEPA Pre-Filter: Every 2 years

Carbon Filter (Full HEPA): Every 4 years, or every 2 years in high-pollution areas or for top-level maintenance

Cabin Filter: Every 3 years – even if the filter appears clean, replacing it helps prevent potential mould issues from dampness
Booking Your Service
To ensure your Model Y’s air filtration system operates at peak efficiency, consider adding one of our filter packages to your upcoming service appointment. Remember, Package C (Cabin Filter Only) is available at no additional cost when requested during your Minor, Major, or End of Warranty service booking.
